Missing portion of headline

Sent to the Boston Globe September 24, 2024

Dear Editor:

Boston Globe readers were misled by the omission of three key words from the lead headline in the September 24 issue. Instead of "Israeli strikes pummel Lebanon; hundreds die," the headline should have read "Israeli strikes pummel Lebanon; hundreds of Hezbollah terrorists die."

Reporting on the wrong story in the wrong way

 May 14 marked the seventy-sixth anniversary of one of the most inspiring events in human history. An ancient people mostly dispersed from their homeland nearly 2,000 years before by foreign invaders reestablished their sovereignty and withstood an invasion by five foreign armies. Missing words create false impression

Sent to the MetroWest Daily News on October 30, 2024.  Dear Editor: The headline "Israeli strike kills dozens in north Gaza" (October 30, 2024) created a completely false impression by omitting two crucial words; it should have read "Israeli strike kills dozens of terrorists in north Gaza." Finally, a new idea

Sent to the Boston Globe February 6: Dear Editor: I've read a lot of criticism of the latest American proposal for Gaza, but I have yet to read about any of the critics proposing anything that isn't essentially a rehash of what's been tried and failed disastrously time after time. Isn't it time to try something that might have a chance of doing something other than perpetuating the bloody disaster that the Palestinian Arabs have made out of Gaza? Sincerely, Alan Stein
