Lesson for Palestinian Arabs

Dear Editor:

Reading the article "For Palestinians returning north, elation and despair" (Wednesday, January 29, 2025), I can't help but think of an important lesson it contains.

When you choose a government made up of barbaric genocidal terrorist thugs and that government turns most of the homes, schools, hospitals, mosques and UNRWA facilities into armories, including tens of thousands of rockets, builds an extensive network of subterranean terror tunnels underneath civilian structures and with entrances into many of them, turns the civilians into human shields, repeatedly launches rockets and other terror attacks against a peaceful, democratic, sovereign neighbor and then launches a barbaric attack, beheading babies and burning them in ovens, gang raping innocent young women before murdering them and then bringing their dead, half-naked bodies back as hostages and parading them before cheering crowds, that sovereign neighbor that seeks only to live in peace will eventually wake up, defend its people and there will be a significant price paid.

If they value their own lives more than they want to destroy their democratic neighbor, those Palestinian Arabs will learn that lesson, decide it's preferable to try to live in peace with its neighbor and throw Hamas out.

Reporting on the wrong story in the wrong way

 May 14 marked the seventy-sixth anniversary of one of the most inspiring events in human history. An ancient people mostly dispersed from their homeland nearly 2,000 years before by foreign invaders reestablished their sovereignty and withstood an invasion by five foreign armies. Today, those same people are still valiantly facing enemies bent on the destruction of their sovereign state. Yet rather than producing a program about that modern day miracle, WBUR chose to produce the Here & Now episode "Millions of Palestinians across the world commemorate 'Al Nakba,'" an interview pandering to a descendant of those who tried to prevent that miracle and not just air his lies and distortions but reinforce them. Missing words create false impression

Sent to the MetroWest Daily News on October 30, 2024.  Dear Editor: The headline "Israeli strike kills dozens in north Gaza" (October 30, 2024) created a completely false impression by omitting two crucial words; it should have read "Israeli strike kills dozens of terrorists in north Gaza."
